From 2019 to 2020, the Whale in Love has gone through numerous dazzling and memorable moments, and it wouldn’t have been so successful without the citizens’ participation!

Jan 2020 │ Love River, Kaohsiung

With the citizens of Kaohsiung, New Aspect Promotion Co. celebrated the grand opening of the largest ecological water installation in Taiwan with a sensational ceremony. Mayor Kuo-Yu Han of Kaohsiung City and his team brought their greetings to the New Aspect team, StudioKCA artists and called public attention to environmental protection.

Curious about how the Whale in Love was built? The New Aspect curatorial team and our architect Jason introduced to the public the ideas and procedures of this project at the press conference, at which Deputy mayor Kuang-Shih Yeh of Kaohsiung City and commissioners of numerous departments assembled various plastic pieces to the bulk of the whale.

The Whale in Love is 18 metres in length and width, and its steel structure looked even more astonishing with a bird's-eye view! Click the album and see how our architect Jason Klimoski collaborated with Taiwanese technicians to build the whale.

The former site of Qixian Junior High was all set for the assemblage of the plastic pieces to Whale in Love. Our workers will start from the bulk of the whale. Could you see the line of the bulk from the pictures?

At Shoushan Zoo, the Whale was featured as the animal of the month of December 2019. The weekend event gave children opportunities to get to know the animals around them. Children had fun while learning about the ocean, ecology and environmental protection.

Gathered by the Environmental Protection Bureau of Kaohsiung City, over one thousand volunteers participated the beach clean-up at the Cijin Beach. Approximately 300 kilogram of waste was collected, and part of it will be recycled to create the Whale in Love.

New Aspect Promotion Co. announced the launch of the project Whale in Love, alongside environmental campaigns and educational activities. The press conference featured Deputy mayor Kuang-Shih Yeh of Kaohsiung City, who gave an impressive speech and encouraged the project to unite Kaohsiung citizens in environmental protection.

With the New Aspect curatorial team, the architect Jason Klimoski paid a visit to the waste management plant in Kaohsiung and was astonished by the high efficiency of waste recycling in Taiwan.
